Position: Instructor Therapist
As VBS continues to grow we will be regularly looking for highly skilled professionals. This is an open call for resumes. When a position is available successful applicants will be contacted for an interview.
Description
Instructor therapists are responsible for assisting Behaviour Analysts to implement behaviour reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans. The candidate will assist clients with day-to-day activities, monitor their behaviour, record and collect data on clients' progress, and communicate with clients. Other duties may include clerical and administrative duties.
To be successful in this role, you will display a compassionate nature, empathy, and discretion in your work. You should have excellent communication and time management skills, and be able to develop and maintain relationships with clients, parents, supervisors, and colleagues.

Starting wages: $24/hour + paid mileage for travel to client homes
Instructor Therapist Responsibilities
-
Provide direct care to clients in a one-on-one or group therapy setting to implement skill acquisition and behaviour reduction treatments as directed by the supervisor (this may be done in the client’s home, in community settings, or virtually through telehealth services).

Provide direct in-home intervention for the clients and implement programs according to the treatment plan, recording data, and documenting session notes.

Train parents on the principles of ABA to support their child effectively outside of therapy hours.

Collect and record data on client behaviour.

Collaborate, communicate and assist with the training of clients, parents and staff.

Communicate with parents and team members regularly
-
Train caregivers and staff working with the child/youth in the home and community settings

Train & work under the supervision of Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs)

Provide a safe and supportive environment for clients and family.

Carry out clinical assessments and other administrative duties.

Maintain strict confidentiality.

Attend training to acquire further knowledge.

Instructor Therapist Requirements
-
Preference will be given to candidates with a diploma in ABS or equivalent
-
Preference will be given to candidates with at least 2 years of experience working in an ABA/IBI setting under the clinical supervision of a BCBA
-
Knowledge of ABA and its application for instructional methods in multiple environments.

Demonstrate skills coaching others on ABA principles.

Advanced knowledge of the characteristics of ASD, CP, DS, and similar diagnoses.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to receive and incorporate feedback and advanced self-reflection skills.
-
Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate outcomes.
-
Mature and consistent approach with strong interpersonal skills.

May need to work shifts.

Effective computer skills and the ability to learn/use data collection software.

Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel to client homes in Windsor/Essex County

Must have daily access to a computer and reliable internet.

An ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Eager to learn and accept feedback for continuous improvement

Valid Criminal Background Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen.
